Hindustan Latex Ltd (HLL) today announced the launch of Velvet, the new condom for women in India. Targeted at contemporary Indian women and new age couples, this risk free condom ensures full protection during sexual intercourse. Velvet is made of a special material called nitrile, which is thinner and stronger than the male condom, making it more reliable during usage. The product has extra lubrication making it more convenient and pleasurable.

These superior quality nitrile condoms are women initiated contraception and come with dual protection against unwanted pregnancy and STDs, HIV/AIDS.

A recent social acceptability study of female condoms in India conducted by Hindustan Latex Family Planning Promotion Trust (HLFPPT) along with Blackstone reveals that the primary attribute of the Female Condom the women in our country liked was that it could be used when the husband refused to use a male condom. Some of the other attributes indicated were its good lubrication, pleasure during sex and increased sensation due to the condom etc.

Velvet will be distributed through leading medical / departmental stores across Delhi & the NCR region and will be priced at Rs100 for a pack of three.
