'TATA Green Batteries', the flagship brand of Tata AutoComp GY Batteries (TGY), today announced the accomplishment of a significant milestone- the only battery manufacturer to introduce a comprehensive range of automotive and inverter batteries within one year of its launch. Since the launch of their Four- wheeler batteries in February 2007, TGY has introduced 23 batteries in automotive and inverter battery segments across Passenger Cars, Utility Vehicles, Commercial Vehicles, Tractor, Two-wheeler and Inverter batteries, thereby, re-defining industry benchmarks.

The company has established a robust channel network of 17 CFA's, 600 Dealers, 3100 Sub-dealers, 155 Distributors and 55 franchises all across the country in a short span of time and has outlayed further expansion of its reach to 5000 retailers by end of the year.

Taking cognizance of demand and supply disparity prevailing in the market, TGY has charted an aggressive growth plan of scaling up Tata Green batteries production capacity at its Pune facility. The company is targeting an overall production of 1 million batteries for the financial year 2008-09, which will be further expanded to 1.5 million by 2009-10 and 2 million batteries by 2010-11.

With the introduction of the inverter batteries, Tata Green will now address the anguish faced by households and small enterprise consumers, due to erratic and interrupted power supply throughout the country.

The Tata Green inverter batteries will be available in two variants i.e. 135 AH and 150AH and is competitively priced at Rs.9478/- and Rs. 10,280/- respectively. The state-of the-art Japanese technology provided by Tata AutoComp GY Batteries will offer the consumers host of benefits, such as -

The state-of-the-art technology used in the Tata Green Batteries enhances the battery life as its distinctive design minimizes water loss and cuts down battery water evaporation, eliminating the need to top-up water up to 100,000 kms, a first amongst Indian batteries. The Calcium-Calcium technology also reduces self-discharge, increases storage time and provides best protection from acid spillage and sparks. This ensures high starting power even in extreme ambient temperatures of below -18 degree C to 75 degree C.
