At the ongoing Light India International 2008 Exhibition, Osram India Private Limited (a wholly owned subsidiary of Osram GmbH, a division of Siemens AG), is showcasing a slew of products and the latest technological advancements for everyday applications involving all facets of life.

Osram is a pioneer of innovative and high quality products in General Lighting, Automotive Lighting, Display/Optics, Electronics & Controls and the emerging field of Light Emitting Diodes (LEDs). At the exhibition, Osram is showcasing the latest advancements in the lighting technology.

Visitors to the exhibition can see a real time display of applications of electronics & controls in office lighting which allows a person to change the ambience of the office space at the flick of a button. Also, these systems allow a user to have different lamps & luminaries to come into play all the lamps can be dimmed to different lighting levels to suit the needs & moods of the occupant. Simultaneously, these features lead to tremendous conservation of energy. These features are possible through an intricate software driven system or by use of less elaborate systems like the DALI Basic & the DALI Easy. For users who want to use these systems at a lower cost, a simpler technology known as Analog dimming (in conjunction with a potentiometer) is also available.

Osram is also showcasing the latest in lighting technology for emerging sectors like Modern Retail. The Focus here is on easy-to-maintain lighting systems which help in creating the right kind of ambience for both high end retail & the large format retail stores.

On the Product side, a wide range of fluorescent lamps-ranging from lamps with real long life known as XT (eXtended Trust) with a life of 42,000 hours to lamps meant for use in Clean Rooms & Semiconductor Fab Units (known as Chip Control) & lamps for splinter proof operations will be shown. This will highlight Osram's efforts in truly bringing innovation in a product category which has been around for the past 70 years.

Similarly, Osram is bringing to this exhibition newer varieties of CFLs (about 6 new types) thus offering variety to the consumer.

Even in Halogens, Osram has managed to harness its R & D abilities to bring in the Energy Saver range of lamps which provide a saving to the tune of 30%.

Also on display would be the Endura lamps with a life of 60,000 hours. With such long life, these lamps are most suitable for difficult to reach areas such as atria of large spaces in Airports, Hospitals, Railway Stations, Industrial locations etc. which require a

"Fit & Forget " kind of arrangement.

This apart, Osram is introducing the HO Constant lamps (with Amalgam Technology). This enables CFLs & fluorescent lamps to be operated on a wide temperature range without affecting the light output of these lamps. These lamps would thus be ideally suited for a wide variety of indoor & outdoor applications.

Osram also brings to this exhibition the newly launched products of its new business segment of luminaires which encompasses luminaires for Consumer & Professional applications as well as luminaires with LEDs.

A large number of LED products & applications will be on display at the Osram stall.

Lamps & systems for the Entertainment & Automobile Industry will also be on display at the exhibition.

Sustainability, being the core theme of Osram, occupies centre stage at this exhibition. This is demonstrated by off-grid lighting systems for rural areas using solar powered lantern & LED Streetlights.
