Company release, November 23, 2004
New York
Ami Brophy, Clio Awards executive director, today launched Clio's official 2005 awards season by announcing the appointment of its first-ever standing Radio Jury Chairman, simultaneous with the completion of its full roster of world-renowned 2005 Jury Chairs. Austin Howe, President & Creative Director, Radioland, Portland, OR, will be chairing the Clio Radio Jury's inaugural year as an isolate jury. The International Clio Awards is a leading global awards competition for excellence in advertising and design.
"Radio is different. It's weird—it goes in different holes than other mediums—and Clio recognizes that," said Austin. "I'm looking forward to leading a group of the most accomplished, discerning and open-minded radio judges, in seeking out the brutally singular, audacious idea-executed perfectly."
"Clio has been awarding Radio advertising since 1966—our ongoing commitment to creative excellence in all mediums and our highly-commended judging process lead us to this exciting appointment of a dedicated Radio Jury," said Ami. "We're delighted to have Austin Howe joining Clio's roster of outstanding international creatives serving as jury chairs."
Chairing more than 100 Jury members in seven mediums alongside Executive TV Jury Chairman, Mark Tutssel; Executive Print Jury Chairman, Tham Khai Meng; and Ty Montague, Executive Content & Contact Jury Chairman, the complete roster of 2005 Executive Chairmen includes:
Radio: Austin Howe, President & Creative Director, Radioland, Portland, OR
Technique: Fredrik Bond, Director, Morton Jankel Zander, London, England
Design: Julie Lasky, Editor-in-Chief, I.D. Magazine, New York
Internet: Colleen DeCourcy, Global Executive Creative Director, Organic, Toronto, Canada
In conjunction with the announcement of the completed roster of Jury Chairs, Entry Kits will soon be mailed and will also be available online at www.clioawards.com, including translations of the rules in Spanish, German, French and Chinese.
