Mount Shivalik Group, one of the fastest growing groups in brewing Industry is all set to launch a range of Blue Nun wines in India. After its successful tie - up with Strohs Brewery Co, USA to produce and distribute Strohs in India exclusively, Mount Shivalik Group has now entered into an alliance with F.W. Langguth Erben GmbH & Co. KG for the distribution and Marketing of its brand Blue Nun exclusively in the Indian Market. The group, has a successful track record of manufacturing and marketing its own brands through its vast distribution network spread over 20 states of India which gives it an excellent platform for establishing and promoting Blue Nun in India.
The group has impressive list of first to its credit. It was the first to introduce the concept of (original) strong beer in India with the launch of their flagship brand Thunderbolt that went on to win the Monde Selection Gold Medal, Barcelona for its excellent quality in the year 1991. Golden Peacock, Punjab Extra Special, Punjab Extra Strong, Torpedo, Thunderbolt Gold Premium, Slimms, Punjab 6000 and Thunder 10000 are the other brands in the groups brand Portfolio.
Mount Shivalik Group is credited with annual turn over of five million cases of beer. The alliance to promote and distribute Blue Nun will further be adding to overall growth of Mount Shivalik Group.
Wine in India captures only 0.6% of the total 73 million cases of Indian Made Foreign Liquor in India that leaves enough scope for Indian wine market to mature and expand. Previous year statistics shows a growing trend in consumption of Imported wines in India. The sales figure of wine has gone up to 142,000 from mere 72,000 cases in the year 2001-2002. Mount Shivalik Group has a planned strategy to market Blue Nun wine in India to capture at least 10-15% of total wine market in next two years. As a part of marketing strategy Mount Shivalik Group will undertake the task of developing taste for wine by educating and informing consumers directly through promotional literature, audio & visual aids and public speeches. Institutions selling wine would actively be made to participate in the project to educate consumers where Mount Shivalik Group will substantiate institutions with inputs and training to convince consumers about the different qualities of wine and how it can be differentiated from other alcoholic products.
In the first phase the company has decided to launch Blue Nun wines in the states of Delhi, Chandigarh and Calcutta while in the second phase it will be launched in other parts of India.
