The world's hunger for streaming high-quality video, instant online gaming and reliable business services is changing the way service providers design their networks. The Tellabs® 7100 optical transport system (OTS) tops the charts by revolutionizing the way service providers deliver the bandwidth to meet these demands.
Churning out the hits
In just over two years, Tellabs has:
Shipped more than 10,600 wavelengths on almost 3,000 systems, enabling the delivery of all types of transport services;
Shipped more than 4,200 degrees of ROADM, enabling providers to instantly provision bandwidth anywhere at any time; and
Shipped more than 3,400 integrated add-drop multiplexer (ADM) pairs, enabling providers to save time and money by reducing the number of elements in their networks.
On the ROADM again
In July 2006, Tellabs announced that Verizon chose the Tellabs 7100 OTS with ROADM to simplify the optical transport system in its all-fiber network that delivers FiOS Internet and FiOS TV services to millions of customers in 17 states. Now Verizon Business uses the Tellabs 7100 OTS to deliver flexible bandwidth to banks, hospitals, universities and other businesses.
And in the first quarter of 2008, Tellabs recognized revenue from a new customer in North America. In fact, Tellabs 7100 system revenue quadrupled in 2007, exceeding our most optimistic forecasts.
New release coming soon
To continue to help service providers meet their customers' needs; Tellabs is adding new capabilities to the system. These enhancements enable providers to make their Ethernet networks more scalable.
