We will be awarding both the international and the domestic airlines for achievements during the year 2002, informed Mr. Rakesh Agarwal, spokesperson of Frankfinn that publishes Aviation Times. While there will be only one award for the Best International Airline of the Year, there will be several awards for the domestic Airlines. Awards will be given out for: The Best Domestic Airline of the Year, Best in Flight services, Best Connectivity and Best Ground Services. All domestic Airlines will be under the preview and the awards will be given off in Delhi in a glittering ceremony in April 2003, expectedly by Mr. Syed Shahnawaj Hussain, Union Minister for Civil Aviation, Government of India, informed Mr. Rakesh.

"The Indian Aviation industry has flown a long way since the maiden flight of JRD Tata and there is a need, both for the airlines and the passengers to have a kind of a rating system, an award for the super achievers in the segment", said Mr. K.S. Kohli, Chairman of Frankfinn Management Consultancy - pioneers of Basic Cabin Crew Training in India. It is because of this we have decided to institute awards", informed Mr. Kohli.

"In my long association with the field, I have always felt the need for a mouthpiece, a spokesperson for the industry, someone, or something that will talk of our grievances, highlight our achievement and generally work as a channel of communication between the world at large and the aviation industry", informed Mr. Kohli. It was this need that prompted us to bring out the first copy of Aviation Times, which has, in its few years of existence, achieved what it had set out to.
