Airtel, India's and Karnataka's leading mobile service today announced the launch of the much anticipated iPhone 3G in the state. iPhone 3G combines all the revolutionary features of iPhone plus 3G networking that is twice as fast*, built-in GPS for expanded location-based mobile services and iPhone 2.0 software which includes support for Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync and runs hundreds of third party applications available through the new App Store.

Amlan Mandal, a software engineer from Bangalore, the first Airtel iPhone customer in Karnataka, was delighted. Expressing his joy, he said, "I am thrilled to be the first lucky Airtel iPhone customer in Karnataka. I am an ardent iPhone lover and was eagerly waiting for the Airtel iPhone launch since my booking. My wait is now over and a looking forward to enjoy the new Airtel iPhone experience"

The Airtel iPhone will be priced at Rs 31,000 for 8 GB and Rs 36,100 for 16 GB. The 16GB phone will be available in 2 colours - Black and White. Customers can purchase the iPhone 3G from Airtel Relationship Centres across Karnataka from August 22, 2008.
