Company release, February 10, 2005
New Delhi
Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) today signed an MOU with TATA Indicom to facilitate the implementation of its Global Dealer Management System (GDMS), a software that will help all its dealers stay connected with the company in real time.
Under the five-year MOU, signed by Mr B V R Subbu, HMIL President, and Mr Sandeep Mathur, President, Tata Indicom Enterprise Business Unit, TATA Indicom will enable the GDMS by providing the Virtual Private Network (VPN) and VSAT technologies. It will also be the technological service partner of HMIL to ensure the smooth operation of the GDMS system.
The GDMS, a web based communication software, will enable dealers to place on-line orders of cars, spare parts and accessories to HMIL and will speed up operations and eventually benefit the customer. GDMS will ensure better and smooth functioning between sales, service and parts operations, enabling generation of online reports/information and hence reduce manual work.
It will initially be run as a pilot on about 20 dealer locations and will be extended to all HMIL dealers in 305 locations across India by May, 2005.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr B V R Subbu, President, HMIL, said, “We look forward to working with TATA Indicom on this project. With the implementation of the GDMS, we aim to make it the first integrated system, on which our dealers can view stocks of products online. The auto industry in India needs to develop a centralized system which will be timely, fast, accurate and efficient. Hyundai’s revolutionary "click-n-order" model system will increase dealer efficiency.”
“We at Hyundai have always tried to deliver the best and implement the latest technologies for the benefit of our dealers and customers. TATA Indicom will bring their requisite expertise to this project and we look forward to a mutually beneficial relationship with them,” he added.
Mr Mathur said, “We are glad to be associated with this important Hyundai Motor project. We believe that our telecom expertise and robust infrastructure coupled with our in–depth understanding of the automobile industry would enable us to fully meet all of Hyundai Motor requirements for this pioneering project.”
