Kingfisher Airlines to launch Mumbai-London flights from January 5, 2009

Kingfisher Airlines, India’s first and one of only six 5-Star airlines in the world, today announced that beginning January 5, 2009, it would commence daily non-stop flights from Mumbai to London Heathrow.

Tickets for travel on the inaugural flight and for subsequent flights are now available for sale to guests intending to travel to London and from London into Mumbai.

Kingfisher Airlines’ flight from Mumbai will take off at 1.50 pm in the afternoon and arrive at London Heathrow’s Terminal 4 at 5.55 pm in the evening, local time. From London, the flight will leave at 8.30 pm in the night and arrive the next day at 11 am in the morning in Mumbai, local time.

The launch of this new route marks the second international route to be operated by Kingfisher Airlines. The first international route operated by Kingfisher Airlines was the Bangalore- London sector which was launched on September 3, 2008. Kingfisher Airlines has redefined the whole experience of flying for flyers in India, in the short span of just over 3 years that it has been in operation.

Commenting on the launch of this new international route, Dr. Vijay Mallya, Chairman and CEO, Kingfisher Airlines Limited said, “I am delighted to announce the launch of daily non-stop flights between Mumbai and London. Given the strong linkages between India and the United Kingdom, we believe that there is untapped potential and this new route promises to serve the unmet needs of discerning corporate and leisure flyers to these destinations”.

The Government of India has recently granted Kingfisher Airlines the rights and approval to operate flights on other routes namely, Mumbai-Hong Kong, Mumbai-Singapore, Chennai-Colombo, Bangalore-Colombo, Kolkata-Dhaka, Kolkata-Chittagong, Bangalore-Bangkok and Mumbai-Bangkok sectors. The time frame for launch of these services will be announced in due course.

The flights on the Mumbai-London sector will be operated using a brand new Airbus A330-200, widely billed as the best A330 ever built for any airline. Configured in two classes, Kingfisher First and Kingfisher Class, the spacious full-length wide-bodied twin aisle cabin of the A330-200 has gone to great lengths to make flying feel a more natural and pleasurable experience.
