Medimix Silambattam Championship to be held in Vellore

Following the huge success of the Medimix Silambattam Championship in Nagercoil last year and in Madurai and Trichy the previous two years, Medimix and Tamil Nadu Silambam Federation are coming together again this year to bring a much bigger event in Vellore. Medimix National Silambattam Potti will witness participation from over 15 states from across India and about 325 participants both men and women.

This year the event is taking place at the Fort maidan, Vellore from 18th to 20th February 2005. This is the fifth national championship conducted by the Tamil Nadu Silambam Federation in association with Medimix.

Talking about the competition Mr. V. S. Pradeep, Director, Cholayil and Chairman All India Silambattam Federation said “ We have been associated with the Silambattam championship for the last four years and we would like to see this championship grow and get further prominence therefore efforts are being carried out to increase awareness of this unique martial art”.

With the intention to propagate Kalari, the martial art of Kerala and the Silambam of Tamil Nadu, the Cholayil Group has been conducting competition over these last few years. The Group also honours one veteran with a ” Life Time Achievement Award” the unveiling of which will be done today. The competitions conducted by Cholayil have created a new awakening among the valiant masters of Silambattam itself. Today Medimix is synonymous Silambattam Championship.
