Mattel India MD to move to Poland

General Manager and Managing Director of Mattel Toys India Pvt. Ltd., Sanjay Luthra, who helmed the Indian subsidiary of the multinational giant for seven years through some of its most challenging times and engineered a successful turnaround two years back, will on December 13, depart Indian shores to take over as Country Manager for Mattel Poland. He will be responsible for continuing the growth that Poland has produced over recent years and leading the rapid expansion of Mattel’s business there. Poland boasts a business that is five times that of Mattel India, and the country is one of the fast growing toy markets in the world.

With this change Sanjay will also be moving on from his current position as the Vice-Chairman for AMCHAM, Western Region.

Sanjay joined the company as Sales Director in January 2002, and was promoted to GM in September 2003. During his tenure in Mattel, Sanjay proved himself a truly committed leader and drove business process improvements, developed stronger customer relationships and most importantly led India to becoming a profitable subsidiary within the Mattel world.

In India Sanjay will be succeeded by a strong leadership team of Karun Gera, who will take over as Commercial Director heading the Sales and Marketing function and Prashant Bapna who will be taking over the complete back-end operations of the Indian subsidiary. Both of them have been in the leadership team of the Indian subsidiary since 2003.
