The HeadStart Foundation, a not-for-profit organization run by volunteers and full time professionals to create and promote the innovation and entrepreneurial ecosystem in India will conduct a multi-city event “Startup Saturday” this weekend on 13 December, 2008.

Startup Saturdays are monthly meet ups held across many Indian cities where entrepreneurs discuss ideas and market opportunities, demo products and take detailed feedback and listen to talks by investors, consultants and industry executives on various issues that are key to a startup’s success. The idea is to have continuous interaction in the entrepreneurial, professional and investment community to drive rapid evolution of the entire ecosystem in India.
On the coming weekend, Startup Saturdays will be held in four cities: Bangalore, Mumbai, New Delhi and Hyderabad with a different agenda for each of them.
In Bangalore,the meet at the Honeywell campus also includes a talk on next generation cloud computing by Vikram Murudeshwar of Akamai and a product demo by LifeMojo, an online healthcare startup.
The agenda for the Startup Saturday in Mumbai held at the SP Jain Institute of Management includes a product demo of Librarywala.com by Hiten Turakhia and of Adoroi by Mitesh Thakkar followed by a discussion on what startups should do in a slowdown involving Hemir Doshi of IDG Ventures, Mahesh Murthy of SeedFund, Gopal Krishnan who was CEO at Mobile2Win and Rohit Nalwade who was CEO of ConsumerVision.
The American Center is hosting the Startup Saturday in Delhi. The agenda includes a product demo by Eko which is in the mobile banking business and targets semi-urban India’s unbanked population. There is also a discussion on ‘The evolving business model for online consumer services in India’ that features Harish Bahl, Founder of the Smile Interactive Technology Group that is a promoter of Quasar Media and Tyroo Ad platform and Sanjay Sindhwani, VP, New Initiatives of IndiaTimes.
Startup Saturdays in Hyderabad are supported by IIIT Hyderabad just as the American Center, SP Jain Institute, IIM Bangalore and IIM Ahmedabad supports it in Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore and Ahmedabad respectively. The Hyderabad meet up this weekend at the Taj Deccan involves product demos, an investor meet and technology talks by Microsoft, Google, Pramati, Progress Software and others who are presenting at the co-located HYSEA Technology Day.
