Gillette Mach3 Turbo India Gaming Championship ‘09, the biggest gaming tournament in India witnessed its Finals in Mumbai today. There were 48 finalists present battling it out to win the championship.
The tournament was announced with the launch of Gillette Mach 3 Turbo Winner razor on 8th January’09. All set to bring out the confidence and winning spirit in everyone, the tournament witnessed gamers participating in casual as well as hardcore games across 8 cities which included Mumbai, New Delhi, Hyderabad, Chennai, Ahmedabad, Kolkata, Pune and Bangalore. The Championship rapidly gained popularity amongst gamers.
The tournament showcased some of the most popular casual games like Cricket, Tennis, Street Soccer, Superbike Racing and hardcore games like NFS and Fifa ’08. A total of 1.16 gamers participated in this tournament across the country. This is world’s 2nd biggest gaming championship after World Cyber Games which received a participation of 1.6 million gamers.
Also seen at the event amongst the gamers was Bollywood hunk, Neil Nitin Mukesh to unveil ‘Aa Dekhein Zara’ game created by Zapak for his forthcoming movie ‘Aa Dekhe Zara’ and to felicitate the winners of the biggest gaming competition. When asked about his passion for gaming, he commented, “I have fond memories of playing games as a child and I still continue to game whenever I’m seeking some fun. I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate Gillette and Zapak who have set up a platform for the gamers through Gillette Mach3 Turbo India Gaming Championship’09 and hope that they come together again in future to keep up the spirit of gaming amongst the youth.”
