City baby wins the crown as the national Huggies Superstar 2008

Little Mannan seems to have set the ball rolling for a super career as a star. He was crowned as one of the 4 winners of the Huggies Superstar 2008 by Kimberly-Clark Lever Pvt. Ltd, makers of Huggies. Little Mannan, all of 11 months was chosen from thousands of cherubs who had entered the contest from all corners of the country. The other 3 babies to share this honor are little Shrihaan, 18 months from Hyderabad, little Kavana, 6 months and little Kiaan, 10 months from Mumbai.

Out of the numerous entries sent by mothers, 100 best photographs and slogans were shortlisted by the panel of judges. From these entries, the final 4 were declared winners. These winning babies will be the next face of the Huggies Dry pack.

Huggies believes that every baby is a superstar in their own special way, and as a recognition of this belief, Huggies will send across a token of appreciation to all participants.

On this occasion, Mr. Rajeev Mohan, Managing Director, Kimberly-Clark Lever Pvt. Ltd said, “We are overwhelmed with the response and thank all mothers for their contribution in making the contest a huge success. For all mothers their children are superstars and they aspire to see their child grow by leaps and bounds. To celebrate this feeling, we created a platform for mothers to turn their wishes into reality. Through this unique initiative, our endeavor was to encourage mothers to give their child an opportunity to appear on the Huggies pack and in turn create a stepping stone for their future success.”

All the 4 mothers were ecstatic about their children winning the contest. Each mother had something special to share on this occasion.

Mrs. Anu Handa, mother of Mannan from New Delhi said, “We are delighted that our little bundle of joy has won the Huggies Superstar contest amongst numerous entries. Every mother wishes that their child reaches the stars; the initiative by Huggies is certainly a stepping stone towards it.”

“Many people have complimented me for my child’s infectious smile; this encouraged me to register for the contest. The main purpose was to share his smile with millions of people and make them happy which Huggies has made possible,” she further added.

Mrs. Puneeta Tandon, mother of Shrihaan from Hyderabad said, “I am ecstatic; there are no words to describe my happiness. I cannot wait to get off the phone and declare to the world loud and clear that my baby has won the Huggies Superstar contest. When my child was shortlisted, I would wait eagerly for each day to pass by; count every hour looking at the watch constantly to get closer to the day of the results. The only thing I spoke to my family was about the Huggies Superstar contest, I was constantly on tenterhooks, praying for my baby to win. Now that my kid has won, I am thrilled to bits and thank Huggies for my joy.”

Mrs. Varsha Inamdar, mother of Kavana from Mumbai said, “We are extremely happy and there are no words to describe our joy. It is indeed an achievement to see our little one appear on the Huggies pack. We are thrilled and fortunate on our child’s success at an early age. Currently my husband is in USA for work, we cannot wait for him to come back and celebrate with family and friends. A very happy moment to be treasured and cherished for a lifetime all thanks to Huggies.”

Mrs. Shefali Varghese, mother of Kiaan from Mumbai said, “I had never planned to enter Kiaan in a baby beauty pageant. But seeing his photo up there makes the family so proud. Every mother thinks her child is the best looking baby in the world and it feels nice that a company like Huggies that has seen and "diapered" thousands of babies thinks so too. I don't know what Kiaan wants to be when he grows up, but I hope this opportunity is one window in thousands that his father and I want to give him to see the stars and aim for them.”

To participate, mothers had to send their baby’s photograph along with the participation code printed on the entry form inside the Huggies Dry pack. Entries were open for infants up to 2 years to be able to qualify for the Huggies Superstar contest.

The contest was launched on November 10, 2008 and the entry collection process continued until January 31, 2009. Entries to the contest were sent through mall activations, website and Huggies helpline.
