Global digital technology leader, Samsung Electronics today announced the launch of the ‘World’s Best Mobile Handset’ , the SGH –D 500 in the Indian market. The SGH- D 500 was selected as the World’s Best Mobile Handset at the 3GSM Association World Congress at Cannes in February 2005, amongst 480 initial entries. This new tri band, Megapixel Digital Integrator from Samsung combines a modern design, exceptional functionality and the latest imaging technology.
Priced at Rs.22,499/-, the D500 integrates the pinnacle of Samsung’s industry leading innovations in its soft touch slide up style, including 96MB of user memory; a 1.3 Mega pixel camera; 2,62,000 color, 1.9 inch TFT LCD screen of the phone for remarkable color and clarity of images; video recording and messaging; Blue tooth, email and syncML connectivity; 64 polyphonic ring tones; an enhanced voice clarity speakerphone; and an MP3 Player music player making the D500 the most valuable companion in the industry. The D500 besides supporting messaging in Hindi, Marathi, Tamil, Bengali and Punjabi, is the first phone in the industry to support menu in Gujarati and Kannada language.
Announcing the launch of the SGH –D500 in the Indian market today, states Mr. H C Ryu, Director, Sales & Marketing (HHP), Samsung India, “We expect to fuel the growth of the colour and camera phone segment in the country by launching our World Best, leading technology, innovative products in the Indian market. We expect to achieve the No.1 position in the premium segment of the mobile handset market in the country by the Year 2007.” Samsung, which is a dominant player in the colour phone market in the country, expects 80% of its handset sales this Year to come from the colour phone segment. “We plan to sustain the excitement in the marketplace by launching new, leading technology , wow models every quarter.” states Mr. Ryu. In the first Quarter itself, the Company has introduced 8 new handset models in the country.
Thus, in addition to the D-500, Samsung today also announced the launch of three new handset models : SGH –E 630 , the SGH-E330 and the SGH –N 700 . The SGH –E 630 , a lightweight and compact , stylish, slide up phone comes with 65536 color TFT Screen , 64 Poly Ring tones, Camera with multi shot and Flash, 21 MB Memory and 5 regional language support. This triband phone with 6 hour voice recording function also supports GPRS , MMS ,and Java applications and comes with a unique Plug-In speaker to amplify the volume .This phone is priced at Rs.12,949/-.
The SGH –E330, smallest dual screen VGA Camera phone, comes with 65,536 Colors Dual folder LCD screen , Speakerphone, 2 hour voice recording, camera with flash and 5 regional language support . The SGH N-700 is a dual band, monochrome phone that comes with a 1000 Phone Book memory, 5 regional language support, GPRS, 16 Polyphonic Ringtones and a flash light. While the E-330 is priced at Rs.10,249/-, the N-700 is priced at Rs.3,999/-.With the introduction of the new range, Samsung’s mobile phone offering in the country includes 18 handset models priced in the range Rs. 3,999/- to Rs. 22,499/-.
To further strengthen the lifestyle association for its mobile phones, Samsung India announced its Associate Sponsorship for the forthcoming Lakme India Fashion Week. At the Lakme India Fashion Week, the Company will have a strong onsite presence during the event and will carry out an exciting fashion show, themed around the D-500.
