Company Brief
New Delhi, November 03, 2009
Hyundai Motor India Ltd, the country’s largest passenger car exporter and the second largest car manufacturer turned a new leaf in its recruitment policy as it is extending its search for quality manpower beyond the Indian market. Recently, it advertised in an international publication to source its manpower needs from the international market.
Recognizing the fact that a large talent pool exists outside India in the form of Non Resident Indians (NRI) and also expatriates who would be willing to relocate to India and working in a fast growing and challenging environment that is the Indian car market today, HMIL, has opted to look beyond the Indian market.
Coupled with the fact that these executives will bring in their vast experience of developed car markets as well as a fresh perspectives for the company, this is a good opportunity for both the company as well as NRI and expatriates looking to relocate to India.
Commenting on the move Arvind Saxena, Sr Vice President - Sales & Marketing, HMIL said, “We have always believed in hiring the best and if this means extending the boundaries to include those living outside India then we are quite open to it. I am sure this will be a good opportunity for many Indians who want to come back home and also for us, as we will be able to get experienced people who have a wealth of knowledge and experience in international markets. This initiative I am sure will attract good people to the Indian automotive industry.”
HMIL which is a fully owned subsidiary of Hyundai Motor Company of South Korea is at the moment staffed by people of Korean and Indian origin mostly and currently it exports to around 140 countries. This will be a first instance of an Indian automotive major looking to attract talent from foreign shores and give impetus to its operations.
