The Scotch Malt Whisky Society (SMWS) is the world's leading specialist in single cask, single malt whiskies. The Society is a private membership club dedicated to the discerning appreciation and consumption of the most rare and unique single malt whiskies. The Society was setup over 25 years ago and is dedicated to preserving the intricate experience of Single Malt Tasting worldwide. With India entry, SMWS hopes to create an exclusive society that reflects their core values: Taste, Exclusiveness, Knowledge and Experience.
SMWS provides a special opportunity to single malt enthusiasts across the world. Bottled from a single cask, selected from a range of over 120 distilleries, every Society whisky bottling is exceptional. Their Limited Edition malt whiskies are then made exclusively available to the members of the society.
Society whiskies are not commercially available to the general public, they are only through exclusive memberships, which is By Invitation Only. In India, this membership will be priced at Rs. 25,000 for an initial entry fee for a year. Members will get Membership Kit with a sample set of four miniatures of the Societies Rare Whiskies, 1 Limited Edition bottle complimentary, Complimentary Subscription to our Exclusive Unfiltered magazine, access to Exclusive RSVP Events, and host of other privileges and discounts, at our Member Establishments. Members will also have access to Members Room facilitates around the world.
The SMWS will attempt to garner its members across the main urban centres of the county and also mount a series of exclusive tasting events. SMWS bars will also be set up in smart locations across the country.
Speaking on the occasion, "Raghuraj Kanudia, SMWS (India Partner) said, "India is one of the most exciting markets to be in. Our initial research indicates that our product and service will be much appreciated in this country. The sheer quality and rarity of the single malts that we will offer will make this a compelling proposition. After all Indians have enjoyed luxury in the form of Cartier Jewelry, Rolls Royce Cars, Baccarat Crystals, LV Luggage etc for generations now because we believe in ‘Experiencing the Finer Things in Life'."
The Society's Tasting Panel selects individual casks of the finest malt whiskies from virtually every distillery in every region of Scotland. The content of a particularly fine cask and bottle at full cask strength is taken, without the process of chill filtration. Each cask produces on an average 275 bottles. As no two casks taste alike, each bottle bears a specific code, which indicates to the member not only the distillery from which the whisky originates but also the specific number of casks, which have bottled by the Society, from that particular distillery.
