Ashok K Joshi, President - Voltas Limited (Electro-Mechanical Projects & Services segment) was elected President of the Refrigeration and Air conditioning Manufacturers' Association (RAMA) on February 16, 2010 for a term of two years. RAMA is the apex body for leading manufactures in India’s air conditioning and refrigeration industry, represented by company leaders and high-ranking officers.

RAMA is affiliated to the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII). The air conditioning and commercial refrigeration industry is currently on a fast-growth track, and RAMA plays a pivotal role in ensuring that the industry continues to grow at a healthy rate.

Mr. Joshi, who is a B.E (Mechanical), has to his credit over three decades of rich and varied experience across the entire spectrum of air conditioning and refrigeration, operations and general management. He has been instrumental in transforming Voltas’ ‘Air Conditioning & Refrigeration’ business into ‘Electro-Mechanical & Refrigeration’ business. He is responsible for both international and domestic operations of electro-mechanical and water management at Voltas.

He has held many important portfolios in industry associations, and is currently an Executive Committee member of IGBC (Indian Green Building Council) and a member of ISHRAE (Indian Society of Heating, Refrigeration & Air Conditioning Engineers) as well as ASHRAE (American Society of Heating, Refrigeration & Air Conditioning Engineers).

Commenting on his appointment, Mr. Joshi states: “I am delighted to assume charge as President of RAMA, and our priorities will include working with Government and all stakeholders in matters related to energy savings and environmental protection. We would also work on finalization of standards for Air Conditioning and Refrigeration equipment along with ISHRAE and other agencies.”
