The MobileStore, country's leading telecom retailer, announced the appointment of Mr. Srikant Gokhale as its Chief Executive Officer.

An alumnus of IIM Ahmadabad, Mr. Gokhale brings to the table a rich experience of over 23 years. Mr. Gokhale was the CEO of 'X-cite', a large format Consumer Durables and IT store chain (CDIT), recently acquired by The MobileStore. In his earlier assignments, Mr. Gokhale has led Al Ghanim Industries in the capacity of Managing Director – Retail and was responsible for its Kuwait and China operations. Mr. Gokhale has successfully launched the private label for consumer electronics in China. As a veteran in the retail industry, he is also sought after as a key speaker in seminars and retail forums both in India and abroad.

Mr. Gokhale takes on the reins from Mr. Rajiv Agarwal, who was instrumental in setting up The MobileStore retail chain. Rajiv Agarwal now moves within the Essar Group to a new assignment.

Mr. Srikant Gokhale would be taking over as CEO and will be responsible for running The MobileStore business and also drive the group's entry into retailing of CDIT products. Having a rich diverse retail experience, Mr Gokhale's key focus areas would be to drive The MobileStore business to the next level by bringing in international retail best practices, operational efficiencies; enhancing in-store customer experience and also drive the business, through aggressive growth and expansion plans. Speaking on the occasion Mr. Srikant Gokhale said, "It's exciting times for the retail sector as consumer confidence scales up again. We have aggressive growth plans for our businesses and would be bringing in several innovations to differentiate ourselves and offer greater value to our customers."
