The oil comes from the seeds of handpicked lemons, which grow in the optimum conditions provided along the Italian Riviera, where they grow abundantly. The luscious oil is obtained by cold-pressing the lemon seeds, which would otherwise become leftover waste from the fruit processing industry, instead ensuring this moisturising goodness can benefit your skin. Sweet Lemon Soap

Get in lather over Sweet Lemon Soap – a simple and invigorating cleansing bar to cleanse, refresh and subtly scent the skin. Like all of The Body Shop soaps, it is made with sustainably sourced palm oil from Colombia. The soap is also enriched with lush lemon seed oil and Community Trade organically grown soya oil, to help restore skin's moisture, smoothness and suppleness.

Community Trade Cocoa Butter from Ghana

Cocoa Butter intensely moisturises the skin to leave it soft, smooth and supple. The Body Shop buys cocoa beans from Kuapa Kokoo, co-operative that works directly with over 40,000 small-scale farmers. Trade with the co-operative enables the development of community projects such as schools and village wells, in addition to providing the farmers with income to support their families and way of life.

Community Trade Shea Butter from Ghana

Shea butter is one of nature's great moisturisers. Ghanaian women have used it for centuries to protect their skin from the dry Saharan winds. The Tungteiya Shea Butter Association is an association of over 400 women from 11 villages. Since trading with The Body Shop, the women have been able to dramatically change their lives for the better with the installation of water pipes and wells, better housing, medical care and food, and increased self-esteem. They have also been able to give their children, particularly their daughters, the chance to extend their education by attending secondary school.

Community Trade Organically Grown Soya Oil from Brazil

Soya oil, containing essential fatty acids, is ideally suited to skin softening. It absorbs into the skin easily and blends beautifully with other natural oils. The soya bean farmers in Capanema, Brazil, believe in preserving nature and the traditional way of life. Community Trade with Capanema provides the farmers with a fair wage and regular income. It has helped the community establish a sustainable livelihood, developing their skills to gain access to other markets and customers.

Community Trade Brazil Nut Oil from Peru

Brazil nut oil is a versatile oil, which replenishes natural oils essential to your skin, making it a rich skin moisturiser and an excellent hair conditioner. Trade with the suppliers in Peru provides a stable environment for over 250 families for whom opportunities to earn an income may otherwise be uncertain.

Honey is one of the oldest cosmetic materials: it softens, soothes and moisturises the skin and is particularly beneficial for sensitive, dry or mature skin. The honey used in the Sweet Lemon Bath & Body range is wild harvested from organic sources.

Community Trade Organic Beeswax

Beeswax, well-known for its moisturising properties, is a natural emulsifier and thickener and has been used in cosmetics for the past 2,000 years. It is used in the Sweet Lemon Bath & Body range to help form a protective layer on your skin, and help reduce moisture loss. The beeswax used in The Body Shop products is wild-harvested from organic sources.

Community Trade Organic Sugar from Paraguay

In Paraguay most sugar cane growers live in poor conditions with few opportunities and many young people look for work in neighbouring countries. The region where the sugar is grown has few paved roads, poor telecommunications and limited medical assistance. Trade with The Body Shop enables small-scale sugar cane growers and their families to enjoy improved living conditions.
