The 48 Hour Film Project (48HFP) is back in Mumbai this year in November. The 48HFP is an international filmmaking competition where filmmakers have all of 48 hours to make a film- script, shoot, edit, score and add titles, sound etc. and submit it as an entry. Teams are invited from all over India and the filmmaking weekend is from Friday Nov. 12 to Sunday Nov. 14, 2010 in Mumbai. The films will be screened and awards given out on Thursday Nov. 18, at Whistling Woods International, Film City, Goregaon.

"This year's line-up of jury and prizes is great," says Preeti Gopalkrishnan and Yogi Chopra, the Mumbai Producer duo. The top prize is the Best Film- Mumbai which then becomes a contender for the Best International Film. Mumbai's Best Film will also be screened at the Miami International Film Festival 2011. "There are also cash prizes to be won and the most coveted prize is the chance for 10 Best Films from the world over to be screened at the Cannes Film Festival's Short Film Corner!" says Yogi.

Among the renowned film personalities supporting the event are Amol Palekar, Balki, Dolly Thakore and Manish Jha.

While Rediff.com is on board as the online media partner, Spykar will sponsor prizes for the awardees. The Mumbai Producers have also roped in leading film schools, Whistling Woods and FX School and cinema lovers group, Friends of Cinema to promote participation in the event. "We are confident of reaching out to several lakh filmmakers, both professionals and students through our efforts," says Preeti.

In keeping with the international format, the competition is flagged off on a Friday at a Kick Off Party, where the teams are allotted their film genres including Comedy, Drama, Fantasy, Film de Femme, Film Noir, Horror, Mockumentary, Musical or Western, Road Movie, Romance, Sci Fi, Silent Film and Thriller/Suspense. But the real challenge is that every film has to incorporate three elements- a line of dialogue, a prop and a character - which are decided on the spot at the Kick Off. A sleepless, chaotic 48 hours later on Sunday evening, the teams have to submit their completed films.

Registration fee: Rs. 2500/- for each team. Read payment details on website.
