Mr. Bachhraj Bamalwa, partner in Nemichand Bamalwa & Sons, Kolkata's premium destination for diamond jewellery, has been appointed the Chairman of the All India Gems and Jewellery Trade Federation. Mr. Bamalwa is one of the founding members of this apex body. He started his career in the 70's as a young boy and has been the driving force in making Nemichand 'the' destination for diamond jewellery in India. Having honed his skills in the family business for the last 30 years Mr. Bamalwa today is an industry expert on gems and jewellery.

On the occasion of his appointment, Mr. Bamalwa said, "It is an honor to be appointed the Chairman of the All India Gems and Jewellery Trade Federation. This is the only national body which represents the 3 lakh jewelers of India and has a massive turnover of more than 2 Lakh crores. As the Chairman, it will be my utmost priority to enhance the image of the gems and jewellery industry in the minds of the consumer. I will also try to corporatize this industry and bring in regulations which do away with disparities in the system and increase the turnover to 3 lakh crores by the end of my tenure. I hope to bring back the shine to the gems and jewellery sector by bringing out the hidden art and talent that will eventually put this industry on the global map. In order to achieve this, I hope I will have the support of the government all the way.
