Airtel launces data card for its wireless network

Airtel, India’s leading mobile service today announced the launch of the Airtel wireless data card on its all India network. The Airtel Data Card will enable anytime, anywhere instant wireless Internet connectivity for laptops and other computing devices, thereby significantly benefiting the business users, roamers and travelers. The Airtel data card is being launched simultaneously in 13 cities of the country including Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Bangalore, Jaipur, Ahmedabad, Pune, Chennai, Cochin, Coimbatore, Hyderabad, Lucknow and Ludhiana. The data card is GPRS & EDGE compatible, works on Airtel networks all across the country and also when roaming internationally on GSM networks. On EDGE enabled networks, the Airtel Data card will offer speeds of upto 100Kbps. The introduction of the high-speed data card adds to Airtel’s suite of m-business solutions for its customers, which includes the globally acclaimed BlackBerry brought to India exclusively by Airtel.

The Airtel Data Card is a slim size device, much like a credit card that fits inside the standard PCMCIA slot available on most laptops. Customers can also send and receive SMS from their laptops using the data card. The Airtel Data Card comes with a two years warranty for its customers. As an introductory offer, the Airtel data card will be available at a one-time entry cost of Rs.12999/-. Customers will have the flexibility to choose from three very attractive monthly tariff plans.
