The internationally-renowned and award-winning Banyan Tree Spa reaches for new heights when it opens at Banyan Tree Macau in May this year. This luxury 5-star all-suite and pool villa resort will be Banyan Tree's first property in Macau, one of Asia's leading leisure destinations.

Featuring 21 beautifully-appointed treatment rooms, Banyan Tree Spa Macau will set a new benchmark for sensory Asian-inspired pampering for guests seeking a relaxing and revitalising spa experience. Designed with a contemporary Asian theme showcasing a bamboo-motif reception, a tranquil water court and a bamboo courtyard with glass skylight, guests are invited to step into another world, away from the night life and entertainment hubs of the city.

The 3,400-square-metre Spa is scheduled to open later this summer as part of the US$1.9 billion Galaxy Macau resort launch in Cotai city.

The high-rise Banyan Tree Macau is the first urban resort in Macau to feature private indoor relaxation pools in all its 227 well-appointed suites. It adjoins the world's largest 'sky wave' pool - complete with a 150-metre white sand beach - in the largest resort development in Macau.

Banyan Tree Spa - inspired by the tropical and sacred tree that gives the group its name - offers intimate retreats for physical, mental and spiritual renewal. As the first luxury spa in Asia, Banyan Tree Spa prides itself in re-introducing an exotic blend of time-honoured health and beauty practices. Focusing on a non-clinical and holistic 'high-touch, low-tech' approach, Banyan Tree Spa emphasises the traditions of Asian-inspired healing therapies and celebrates the art of touch.

Guests will reawaken their senses by the intuitive touch of the therapists along with the use of natural ingredients such as herbs, spices and aromatic oils. All therapists are graduates of the award-winning Banyan Tree Spa Academy established in May 2001 in Phuket (Thailand), followed by Bintan (Indonesia) and Lijiang (China). Its rigorous theoretical and practical training ensures therapists deliver consistently high quality service that guests have come to expect from the ever-innovating and evolving brand.

Signature Spa Treatments

First-time visitors to Banyan Tree Spa are encouraged to experience The Banyan Indulgences - Royal Banyan and Banyan Gui Shi packages (180-minute session at MOP 2,800++ and 2,600++ respectively). The signature Royal Banyan treatment features the Royal Banyan Herbal Pouch Massage where a herbal pouch dipped in warm Sesame Oil, complements the East-meets-West massage techniques to improve blood circulation and muscular tension. A Chinese Foot Massage works on acupressure points to release energy blocks - inducing deep relaxation.

Harmonising Banyan Gui Shi is a soothing massage with heated river stones and sesame oil for a smoother flow of qi and detoxification - complete with Lotus & Rice Body Conditioner leaving the skin nourished and baby-soft.

Another signature Banyan Tree Spa innovation - the indulgent Tropical Rainmist experience (180-minute session at MOP 2,600++) uplifts senses with a Rainmist Steam, cascading Rain Shower, invigorating body scrub and therapeutic massage treatment. Two unique packages, the Tranquility Hydro Mist and Refreshing Sprinkle are specially designed to calm the senses.

For a full day of pampering and care-free indulgence, the 450-minute session Banyan Day priced at MOP 4,000++ features signature therapies for total top to toe renewal, including healthy spa cuisine lunch.

Five Yin Yang packages (120-minute session at MOP 1,600++) use a combination of treatments inspired by the Chinese Five Elements healing philosophy: water for relaxation, wood for renewal, earth for balance, fire for vitality and gold for purification.

All-time favourites include a comprehensive menu of massages, body scrubs, body conditioners, facials and beauty treatments. Massage options range from traditional Thai, Swedish, Balinese and Hawaiian Lomi Lomi to specialist sports and back massages while beauty therapies feature hand and foot treatments and hair spa.

The Spa is open to both resort guests and visitors daily from 10am to 11pm. Gift certificates for spa treatments are also available.

Banyan Tree Macau will be the Singapore-based group's first property in the former Portuguese enclave. It aims to attract sophisticated travellers and MICE groups to Asia's premier entertainment destination.

Galaxy Macau is just a stroll from the glitz and glamour of Cotai city's myriad of nightlife and entertainment options - just 15 minutes from Macau International Airport.
