Hyundai register 11% domestic growth

New Delhi, May 2, 2011

Hyundai Motor India Ltd, the country's second largest car manufacturer and the largest passenger car exporter continued to grow with domestic sales growing at 11% for the month of April, 2011.

HMIL's total sales for April, 2011 stood at 52,058 units as against 52,020 units in April, 2010 registering a growth of 0.1%. The domestic sales accounted for 31,636 units as against 28,501 units in April, 2010 while the exports declined by 13.2% from 23,519 units in April, 2010 to 20,422 units in April, 2011.

Commenting on April, 2011 sales, Arvind Saxena, Director - Marketing and Sales, HMIL said, "The rising interest rates have led to reduced enquires and the conversion rate too has slowed down. We expect the same trend to continue in the coming months."

The segment-wise cumulative sales for the month of April, 2011 are as follows: A2 segment (Santro, i10, i20) 46,779 units; A3 Segment (Accent & Verna) 5,227 units; A5 segment (Sonata Transform) 20 units; Santa Fe (SUV) 32 units.
