Idea launches a complete suite of Mobile Email services

India’s leading cellular operator IDEA Cellular Ltd. has announced the launch of two specially designed email solutions - one for the Business User and the other for the Individual Customer. With these email solutions life on the move is enriched and becomes far enhanced. What’s more… an IDEA customer can access email with a range of GPRS enabled handsets of their choice and across all major towns in India.

Idea Mail is a solution targeted at the business users to check their corporate mails when they are on the move. Idea Mail is available in two need-based editions - A Push based mail service targeting business users using any range of the Symbian and Windows enabled mobile devices with GPRS connectivity. This service offers true push technology with real-time synchronization of mail on mobile devices with the corporate mail server. It enables the mail to arrive on the mobile device just as it appears on the mail server and also supports most popular attachment types like Word, PDF, Excel, PowerPoint, JPEG & more. It also synchronizes calendar on-line to work as a planning tool while a customer is on the move. This service breaks new grounds for mobile data service in the Asia Pacific region for the first time. Service will cost Rs. 750 per month. A Pull based mail service - targeting corporate users with any GPRS enabled mobile device. Customers will be able to login and access their company mail anytime, anywhere. Further they will be able to view attachments like Word, PDF and JPEG images. SMS alerts can also be configured based on customer’s choice to alert them on arrival of new mail messages. Service will cost Rs. 99 per month. Both these services will be available for a monthly subscription fee and GPRS usage charges.

Mobile mail is targeted at the individual customer to access his personal Web-Based Email through a GPRS enabled handset anytime anywhere. All the widely used web-based email services like Hotmail, Yahoo, Rediffmail and ISP based accounts like SifyMail etc. Mobile Mail is delivered through a visually comfortable & graphically interfaced (unlike SMS based services) on any GPRS enabled handset of the customers’ choice. It will be available as a link (Mobile mail) on the IDEAFRESH Wap portal (http://www.ideafresh.com). There will be a monthly subscription fee for the product & data usage charges as per the GPRS subscription plans. Service will cost Rs.30 per month.

This suite of mobile e-mail services is available to all Idea customers even while they roam in Idea circles and in Mumbai. There will be no roaming charges levied. Idea customers can also access this service while roaming in Singapore.
