Grand Hyatt Mumbai appoints Ilan Weill as general manager

Hyatt International Hotels has announced the appointment of Ilan G. Weill as General Manager of Grand Hyatt Mumbai.

Having graduated in Hotel Administration, Management as well as Economics, Mr. Weill began his career with Hyatt International Corporation (HIC) in July 1987 in the security department. He subsequently worked in a few positions within the Rooms Division, Communication Centre, Reservations, Housekeeping and Front Desk.

In 1990, Mr. Weill was given a special assignment as manager on duty for a year at the Hyatt on Collins, Melbourne, now Grand Hyatt Melbourne, where his main responsibilities included hotel operations, and was thereafter promoted to front office manager for the hotel. In 1993, Mr. Weill took over as director of rooms for the pre opening team of Hyatt Regency Merida, Mexico, a 299-room hotel. In addition to being in charge of the rooms division operations, he also oversaw the food and beverage operations for a period of six months. Subsequently, in 1995, Mr. Weill took over as general manager for the hotel.

In 1998, Mr. Weill was transferred as general manager to Hyatt Regency Guatemala, Guatemala City, where he was responsible for running the 205-room hotel with

convention facilities in excess of 20,000 square metres, the largest in Central America. After a successful tenure of two years, in 2000, Mr. Weill was assigned the position of general manager for the Park Hyatt Mendo za & Casino in Argentina, where he was responsible for opening the 186-room boutique hotel located in the wine region of Mendoza.

In his current role as general manager of Grand Hyatt Mumbai, Mr. Weill is responsible for establishing South Asia¡¦s largest multidimensional lifestyle complex as the landmark destination in the city.

Mr. Weill, a British national who also speaks Spanish, has been with Hyatt International Corporation for over 18 years. He will be joined by his wife Sharon, and their three children, Sean, Ashley and Tommy.
