Leading fashion designers Ashish and Viral Parikh, along with Vikrant Mehta, a young qualified designer and model from New Delhi under their label “Studio Virtues” have released a new and unique collection, “The Birth Of Evil” at Collage, Bangalore’s leading multi-designer store located at 21/2 Wood Street Ashok Nagar, to bring in the Halloween feel this October. This collection is a deliberate effort to overstate black, muted and dark clothing full of layers. A full covered look with robes, jackets, suits, blouses and dresses high on volume and flow are included in the collection.
The “Birth Of Evil” Collection includes prints that are predominant with a section of natural dyes and block prints from Bagru, Rajasthan. The color palette is deep, dark and muted from black, coffee bean, burgundy, wine, scarlet, fuchsia and deep purple. The fabrics are silks, chiffons, georgettes and chanderis. Vintage embroideries like vasali, marodi, zardosi and aari are incorporated with lot of emphasis on dull silver.
Speaking about the collection designer, Ashish Parikh states, “The collection features a variety of outfits with dark tones and a gothic vibe. The inspiration is drawn from Gothic Architecture where pointed arches play a very important role. Length and volume are also derived from the Gothic influence. Layers give extra dimension and depth to the silhouette. The collection is spread over a vast range of prints with essentially Indian motifs.”
Designer Viral Parikh further states, “With a team of over fifty artisans exclusively involved in the establishment, weaving has always been our passion and we have a set of weavers in Varanasi exclusively weaving on handlooms and power looms who do their job to perfection. Vintage Indian textiles have remained our inspiration right from the onset.”
She further added, “Collage is an extremely classy store and our collection blends perfectly well with the electric mix of designer wear available at the store.”
