PVR bluO added yet another feather in its long list of accomplishments by organizing the First Edition of India’s First Inter-school Bowling Tournament at two of its centres at Ambience Mall, Gurgaon & Vasant Kunj. The 4 Week Long Tournament that commenced on November 7 would end with the finale on December 1. Top schools of Delhi & NCR are expected to participate in the 4 week long tournament that aims to test the bowling skills of students from classes VIII to XII.
Played in true competitive spirit, the opening day was marked by three teams from GD Goenka School, Rohini having played the inaugural match at PVR bluO, Gurgaon. Being a holiday on account of Eid, the children were accompanied by their parents to the centre who provided due encouragement to the children participating in a tournament of a relatively new sport in India. The new PVR bluO centre at Vasant Kunj witnessed top bowling action on November 11 when 2 teams each from Ryan International School, Rohini and Delhi International School, Dwarka participating in the preliminary rounds.
A maximum of 50 schools (200 students) have been contacted by PVR bluO inviting their participation. Other schools that have shown their keen interest to become a part of this tournament include GD Goenka-Faridabad & Gurgaon, Pathways-Gurgaon and DPS International-Saket. Each school has been provided a liberty of sending a maximum of 5 teams (12 students) for playing in the tournament played on league format. Each player in the team plays 2 games and the cumulative scores of the team are recorded after playing at their choice of centre from 09.00 to 12 noon on weekdays. 12 teams with the highest scores will qualify for the finals to be played on December 1. There is a nominal registration fee of Rs 300 from each player. Certificates are being awarded to all participating teams besides earmarking Trophies for the Winning Team, Ist Runner Up and Second Runner Up teams.

Bowling is a recognized sport and part of Asian Games, Asian Youth Games, Bolivarian Games, Central American & Caribbean Games, Mediterranean Games, Pan American Games, South American Games, Southeast Asian Games, Special Olympics World Games and World Games.
Major tournaments in bowling include the World Series of Bowling, AMF World Cup, Commonwealth Tenpin Bowling Championships, PBA World Championship, World Ranking Masters, World Tenpin Masters, WTBA World Tenpin Bowling Championships and USBC Open Championships.
Bowling is an anaerobic type of physical exercise that helps in burning calories and works muscle groups not usually exercised. The flexing and stretching in bowling works tendons, joints, ligaments, and muscles in the arms promotes burning of accumulated body fat leading to weight loss.
