CMR Group of Institutions celebrated its 21st Founder’s Day at the college campus on Saturday, November 19, 2011. The prestigious CMR Seva Puraskara Award was presented to Smt. Shobha H. Reddy, Former Administrator, CMR Group of Institutions. The CMR Memorial and CMR Sports Scholarships amounting to 20 lakhs was also given away to over 130 deserving students on the occasion of Founders Day.

A key highlight of the Founders Day was also the presentation of the CMR Leadership Award. The CMR Leadership award was instituted in 2009 to acknowledge exemplary students from each institution under the CMR umbrella based on their consistent contribution towards academics, sports, co-curricular activities as well as contribution towards the society.

The function was presided over by the Chairman of CMR Group of Institutions, Mr. K.C. Ramamurthy IPS, Inspector General of Police (Retd.), Dr. K.C. Sabitha Ramamurthy, President of CMR Jnanadhara Trust in the presence of the Honorable Chief Guest Sri. P.C. Mohan, Member of Parliament, Sri. S. Raghu, Member of Legislative Assembly, Sri. Dayanand, Member of Legislative Council and Sri. K.C. Erappa Reddy, S/o Late Sri. Chikka Muniyappa Reddy.

All the award winners were chosen by a rigorous selection procedure comprising of evidence-based departmental nominations and interviews. The procedure was highly selective and only students with exemplar qualities were considered for the various awards.

Apart from entertainment programmes by the world famous magician Sri Uday Jadugar and cultural events by the students, there was also felicitation to Ph.D. awardees and distribution of service awards to the faculty. Mementoes were also presented to newly married couples from the faculty.

Speaking on the occasion, the President of CMR Dr. K.C. Sabitha Ramamurthy said, “This event was celebrated with full momentum and vigour. Knowledge has been acknowledged as an engine of growth and development in today`s globalized world. The challenges of the 21st century could be addressed adequately if educational institutions encourage a thirst for knowledge among the students. I believe that education is a catalyst to the growth and development of any society and quality education must be an integral part to one’s growth.”

She further added, “Establishment of linkages between our educational institutions and job markets is one way of making this happen. The promotion of industry-academia collaboration would go a long way in preparing future leaders endowed with necessary vision to respond to present-day challenges.”

The Founder’s Day celebration ended with the singing of the National Anthem. The parents of the students who were present in the auditorium were indeed beaming with pride for their children were part of an institution, which is considered as one of the leading educational institutions in the city today. After the grand success of the Founder’s Day celebration, CMR Group of Institutions is gearing up for yet another exciting event in the next few months. The Chairman of CMR Group said, “We have various projects that we have lined up for the next few months to come. We look forward to the students to make each of these event a grand success.”
