Pantaloon Retail (India) Limited clocks 105% YoY growth

Pantaloon Retail (India) Limited retail sales for the month of August, 2005 stood at Rs. 146 crores, its highest till date as against Rs. 71 crores during the same period last year, recording a YoY growth of 105%. For Value Retailing, sales were at Rs. 86 crores as against Rs. 40 crores during the same period last year, recording a YoY growth of over 118%. For Lifestyle Retailing, the company recorded sales of Rs. 60 crores as against Rs. 32 crores during the same period last year, recording a YoY growth of 89%.

Same store growth in Value Retailing for August stood at 33% and for Lifestyle Retailing at 23%.

The above sales figures for the month of August 2005 and August 2004 include Shop in Shop (SIS) sale of Rs. 10.32 crores and Rs. 6.55 crores respectively.

Pantaloon Retail ventured into the home retail business through its subsidiary Home Solutions Retail (India) Limited headed by Mr. Raghu Pillai. The company launched its first home furnishings & textile store - MeLa in Mumbai. More standalone stores and home representation in Central and Big Bazaar are planned over the next few months in addition to the first full home store called Home Town.

Pantaloon Retail also launched a new chain under its fashion business christened ‘aLL' A Little Larger. This is the first time that an exclusive store dedicated to the fashion needs of both plus size men and women has been launched as a single dedicated stand-alone store.
