Essential Looks from Schwarzkopf Professional launched its much awaited Flux Collection 1:2012 yesterday, 10th May 2012 in Mumbai at Renaissance Powai amongst much glitz and glamour.

The latest catwalk hair trends were distilled into four new visual moods for Spring/Summer 2011. Each season a handpicked team of hair professionals immerse themselves in the fashion weeks of London, Paris, Milan and New York and emerge inspired to create a collection of distinct trends that will lead hairdressers and their salon clients to progress their personal style for the months ahead. These Essential Looks capture the essence of the season - defining the fashion zeitgeist, creating a cultural snapshot and presenting a storybook of style.

This season, for the first time, Essential Looks features the Catwalk To Salon concept. Since its creation in 1997 Essential Looks has a proven track record in translating catwalk couture into a commercial reality, but in this economic climate means Schwarzkopf Professional recognizes accessibility is more important than ever. The concept is about taking avant-garde looks as inspiration and then creating interpretations that are both aspirational and adaptable, with versatile cuts and colouring techniques that promise to work for all salons and their clients.

Renowned International Stylist Karen Olliver and Najeeb Ur Rehman National Technical Head Schwarzkopf Professional helped recreate these looks for the Indian audience and will now coach over 300+ salons in Mumbai Delhi And Bengaluru between May 8th and May 18th 2012.

Mr Najeeb UR Rehman: National Technical Expert Schwarzkopf Professional commented: “The Essential Looks Flux Collection 1 is a winner. The concept dwells primarily on bringing high street catwalk fashion that-much closer to the audience and creating clean, powerful and minimalist looks that are simmered with vitality”

Steve Hogan, Creative Director for Schwarzkopf Professional Essential Looks says:

"We are proud to present the Essential Looks Flux Collection. Called Flux not only because of the ever changing global economic situation, but because we believe to succeed in hairdressing you need to be able to adapt and evolve to stay ahead of the game. We have strived to create four truly eclectic trend directions that reflect the diverse tribes emerging from today’s modern, global society. SPORTS JUNKIES are honed, toned adrenalin junkies always seeking the next endorphin rush.

The DARK ANGELS are sensual, mysterious and confident women who are the embodiment of feminine beauty. COOL HUNTERS are the epitome of 21st century entrepreneurs, travelling the world with a high tech virtual office in search of the next new big thing and the HIP OPULANTS are hedonistic pleasure seekers who want to see and be seen at the coolest bars and hippest hangouts. These tribes and our strongest images to date are certain to ignite your imagination and fuel your creativity for the season ahead.”

Essential Looks Flux Collection 1:2011/2012 is presented in four moods:

Cool Hunters

The ultimate 21st century tribe, these entrepreneurial revolutionaries have torn up the rulebook and shunned the conventional 9-5. Their nomadic spirit means they hunt out authenticity crave personalisation and are lured by diverse cultural looks. They love Burberry’s S/S handcrafted looks and Marni’s breathtaking beading. Harnessing this brave new energy, stylists translated the trend into cuts that were rich in cultural references and boundary pushing attitude. From sleek precision bobs to attitudinal feather cuts and bold statement colour, it all displays the Cool Hunters fierce passion for fashion.

Sports Junkies

Sportswear was the biggest trend to emerge from New York this season with mesh paneling, hoodies, nylon straps and baseball caps seen everywhere from Victoria Beckham to Alexander Wang. Clean lines, neon colours and hi-tech fabrics ruled and represented a new emerging breed of hip adrenalin junkies who crave the ultimate endorphin rush. EL Stylists seized this feeling and created clean, powerful and minimalist looks that simmered with vitality. Clever styles with ability to shape shift were key, as was a deceptively simple polish.

Dark Angels

Sultry, sensual, hypnotic, exotic, this trend appeals to women whose innate confidence and powerful good looks combine to give them a magnetic appeal. Ultra feminine and powerfully seductive they wear Dolce & Gabbana’s sultry corsetry or Louis Vuitton’s expensive, exquisite lace dresses. Never too obvious, they exude subtle sex appeal that translates to luxe, perfectly glossy hair with peek-a-boo fringes and rich ultra natural colour.

Hip Opulants

This pleasure-seeking crowd abide by the maxim you get enough sleep when you are dead. They live life hard and fast and want to see and be seen. Their wardrobe reflects their love of glamour with high-octane show-stopping looks that mix wild prints with eye-popping colour and a dash of sparkle. But just as modern shapes stop these pieces looking too trashy or flashy, the sharp, clean, cuts stop screen siren blonde and decadent golden reds looking too obvious. Glamour and versatility is key, but it’s the all-important edge that is truly essential.

Schwarzkopf Professional is focused on bringing fresh seasonal ideas and energy to commercial salon work and giving salons all the tools they need to translate that into wantable, wearable styles for their clients. The creative minds behind Essential Looks and the Flux Collection 1: 2012 give salon hairdressers a window on the world of catwalk fashion and an ‘access all areas’ pass to what’s truly hot in hair.
