Tilaknagar Industries Ltd (TI), one of the leading players in the Indian alcoholic beverage industry and manufacturers of Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) with over 40 brands across a diverse range of price and product segments, was awarded the “CSD – Best Business Partner for Excellent Performance for 2011-12.”
Lt General Munish Sibbal, AVSM* Quarter Master General of the Indian Army presented the award to Mr. Amit Dahanukar, Chairman & Managing Director, Ms. Shivani Dahanukar, Executive Director & Col. Bineet Walia (retd) in a glittering ceremony organized by Canteen Stores Department (CSD) at the United Services Club at Colaba, Mumbai. Liquor and other FMCG companies’ top honchos and owners attended the function. Earlier Maj General R Suresh VSM, General Manager and the Chairman Board of Administration welcomed the business partners and apprised them of the challenges ahead.
Commenting on the award Mr. Amit Dahanukar, Chairman and Managing Director, Tilaknagar Industries Ltd. said, “This award is testament to our success in the CSD segment and a direct reflection of consumers’ appreciation for our quality blends. Today, there is a visible growth in demand of premium products. The Armed Forces are no exception to this trend and with increase in purchasing power, we believe consumers are gradually migrating from economy brands to the deluxe and semi premium segment.”
TI’s sales volume in CSD for 2011-12 stood at 2 million cases compared to 1.44 million cases in 2010-11 a healthy increase of 40%.
He further added, “We take this accolade as industry recognition and acknowledgement of the wide acceptance of our brands and blends amongst the Armed Forces. Our flagship brand, Mansion House Brandy leads the Brandy segment among Armed Forces with 25% market share in CSD, besides becoming the second largest selling brandy brand in the world. Our Madira XXX Rum is replicating a similar success story amongst the armed forces and continues to grow at an accelerated pace whilst attaining the status of being the 12th largest selling Rum in the world. ”
Mr. Dahanukar further added that the Company is confident of maintaining this trajectory in CSD. “CSD is an important growth driver for TI. The Company’s brands have been well appreciated, thus enabling us to increase our footprints in this segment. The award not only honors our efforts to consistently increase our presence in this segment but also strengthens our relationship with CSD. We are excited about our prospects in CSD, as two of our brands, Mansion House Whisky and Classic Whisky have just received enlistment in CSD. The Company expects to introduce more brands in the CSD in the coming years,” he concluded.
