Canon PhotoMarathon India celebrates its 4th anniversary

India’s photo-enthusiasts challenged their photographic creativity as Canon India Pvt. Limited, India’s No 1. Complete Digital Imaging Company today held its Canon PhotoMarathon India in New Delhi today. This one-of its kind theme based photo contest in its 4th edition saw amateur and professional photographers plying their tricks and techniques among each other. The contest attracted more than 700 entries.

Canon PhotoMarathon India 2012 was held at Kalka Public School, Alaknanda, New Delhi and was flagged off by Mr Kazutada Kobayashi, President & CEO, Canon India.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Kazutada Kobayashi, President & CEO, Canon India said, “With Canon PhotoMarathon, we aim to reach out to the community of photography enthusiasts. We are delighted that Canon PhotoMarathon applies our expertise in photography to offer extraordinary experience to customers. It is our aim to constantly endeavor and create platforms and opportunities for a wider level photo indulgence for our customers. We are looking forward to the many talented individuals that will come to the forefront by participating in this event today.”

Sharing his thoughts Dr. Alok Bharadwaj, Senior Vice President, Canon India said, “As Canon PhotoMarathon enters its glorious fourth edition, we are happy to observe the growing interest in photography over the past few years in India. As a leader in imaging, Canon has been focused on promoting the culture of photography and PhotoMarathon is testament of same. We believe Canon PhotoMarathon will continue to be an event, where photographers of all levels come together and have lots of fun while learning from one another and sharpening their photography skills. There are so many kids who participated too”.

Canon PhotoMarathon is conceptualised to be a venue of friendly competition and learning, where aspiring photographers hone their skills and creativity in an atmosphere of camaraderie”, commented Mr. Parveen Sahni, Director, ICP Group, Canon India.

The format of Canon PhotoMarathon 2012 involved each contestant being judged on three theme based competition that was held from 8.00hrs-18:00hrs. The contestants were given approx three hours to create photographic masterpieces, in line with assigned three themes. The highlight of the event was

the Grand prize of an 8-day Photo Clinic (photo workshop) to Hungary in the guidance of renowned photographer Triston Yeo for top 2 winners, from each country including India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Vietnam and Singapore. The other two winners get vouchers worth Rs 30,000 and Rs 15,000 (redeemable at selected Canon outlets).

Canon Photo Marathon India is the regional round of Canon PhotoMarathon Asia 2012. The Canon Photo Marathon Asia is one of the most recognized and largest photo competitions. This August, the

Canon PhotoMarathon Asia 2012 entered its 10th consecutive year with the contest that spanned five countries India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore and Vietnam.
