ETV Bangla, in association with RW Promotions Pvt. Ltd. is taking Bengali audiences by storm with the Bengali avatar of the memorable Hindi reality TV show, Bigg Boss. ETV Bangla roped in RW Promotions Pvt. Ltd. to conduct a promotional activation programme for Bigg Boss Bengali.

The show, which has as its host the iconic Mithun Chakraborty, airs Sundays to Saturdays from 8:30-9:30 pm. on ETV Bangla. ETV Bangla’s motive was to create hype around the show, replicate the success of Bigg Boss in Hindi, and increase viewership for the channel. The idea was also to reach out to the Bengali audiences not just in India but wherever they are around the world.

RW Promotions Pvt. Ltd. were for fully geared and up to the task. According to Ravish Kumar, Executive Vice President, Viacom18 & Business Head – Regional Channels, ETV Bangla said, “Bigg Boss is a show that offers unscripted reality to its viewers and through this initiative, we wanted the viewers to sample the game show not just virtually but experience the true essence of the format. The canter activity reached out to the length and breadth of Bengal and we were happy to have RW Promotions Pvt. Ltd. execute the same for us effectively.”

RW Promotions Pvt. Ltd. chose one of the most effective methods of promotional campaigning: a van activation! Two vans, fabricated to resemble the Bigg Boss house, complete with the Bigg Boss’s chair and the confession room, moved around the entire state of West Bengal, for a month. The idea of the decorated vans was to give the crowds a real feel of the Bigg Boss house.

The vans were stationed at crowded places such as a market place or a chopal and the Bigg Boss’s chair had a cut out of Mithun Chakraborty. On entering a town or village, promoters would invite people to the vans and emcees would ask them questions related to the concept of the show. They also played games with the crowds similar to the tasks given to the contestants in the Bigg Boss house. Winners of the games were given free merchandise and cable operators were also wooed with gifts. An LCD set in the van would play commercials of the show reminding people about the show timings. Tin Plate branding, one of the most effective ways of creating brand recall, was also made use of.
