MUMBAI

Following the popularity of its UltraChrome ink, Epson has further enhanced its printing technology with the launch of the Epson UltraChrome K3 ink. Expected to become the de facto standard among professionals who desire high quality and durability, Epson UltraChrome K3 ink technology represents a turning point in the history of inkjet printing.

Epson UltraChrome K3 ink features high-density pigments that produce prints with an extremely wide color gamut allowing the reproduction of colors that were originally envisioned at the point of capture. The all new 8-color ink set incorporates three unique levels of black, which along with the new color pigment technology, dramatically improves both color and black and white prints which last over 325 years*.

Three-level black ink technology and wider color gamut: Black and white prints are a favorite among professional photographers due to the simple, direct and powerful expression of the medium. Traditionally, these have been very difficult to achieve digitally due to color twists and short tonal graduation inherent in digital printers. Epson’s UltraChrome K3 ink system seeks to address this issue with its revolutionary three-level black ink technology and wider color gamut achieved in its eight-channel printing method.

Besides cyan, magenta, yellow, light cyan and light magenta, the UltraChrome K3 ink uses black, light black and light black to achieve smoother graduation and details in highlights, thereby creating professional neutral and toned black and white prints without color crossover or color casts. The effects of metamerism and bronzing, often associated with basic pigment chemistry, are also reduced.

Epson’s UltraChrome K3 ink uses a smaller amount of color ink, which results in a more stable and accurate gray balance for accurate color control. The high density Epson UltraChrome K3 ink pigment produces a wider color gamut which surpasses that of the Euroscale gamut, providing prints with a brilliance and depth comparable to that of color offset printing.

Epson UltraChrome K3 ink dries quickly, allowing for colors to stabilize within a short time. Colors do not change after drying, thereby creating consistent prints. For professionals who require high-quality results, Epson UltraChrome K3 inks help increase cost efficiency and productivity without a need for re-prints due to color changes.

The use of a new improved resin smoothens the surface of the paper when ink is applied. This dramatically improves glossiness and creates prints with greater scratch and water resistance and reduced gloss differential.

Epson UltraChrome K3 ink is being used in the newly launched Epson Stylus Photo R2400, Epson Stylus Pro 4800 and the Epson Stylus Pro 7800/9800.

The EPSON Stylus Photo R2400 is well suited to meet the needs of advanced amateurs, professional photographers and designers who require breathtakingly beautiful colour and revolutionary black and white prints of consistent quality that last.

The Epson Stylus Pro 4800 and the Epson Stylus Pro 7800/9800 featuring Epson UltraChrome K3 Ink are designed to meet the demanding needs of professionals in the fields of photography, graphic arts, and pre-press proofing
