Peter Hane-Weijman takes over as MD of Tetra Pak India

Peter Hane-Weijman has joined as Managing Director, Tetra Pak India. He takes over from Henrik Hauggaard, who has moved to Tetra Pak Turkey as Managing Director. Prior to India, Peter Hane-Weijman was Managing Director of Tetra Pak Egypt.

After assuming office, Peter said, “Tetra Pak's vision in India is to identify and partner progressive players to ensure safety and purity of hygienically packaged food products in Tetra Pak packages, answering the needs of for Indian consumer.” Further speaking on the Indian market, Peter said, “India is experiencing aggressive growth and we expect consumer demands to increase, processors to offer a wider variety of products and a retail market that can ensure greater product availability. All very promising signs for all”.

Peter brings with him a rich and varied experience having held senior positions in Tetra Pak. He joined Tetra Pak in 1985 as management trainee and in 1986 became factory manager in Aurora factory in Toronto Canada

In 1990 he became factory manager at Dijon, France where after he took up to the Global position at Tetra Laval Food as Vice President packaging based in Sweden. In 1995, Peter moved to Turkey as Converting Vice President for the CAMEA Region (Central Europe, Africa, Middle East and South Asia). During this time, he was responsible for starting the Tetra Pak factory near Pune, India.

In 1997, he moved to Lausanne to become the Global Business Manager for the ‘Information System Platform’ Program, and in 2001 moved to his position as Managing Director of Tetra Pak Egypt.

Peter holds a graduate degree in Economics with Masters in Science.
