New Delhi, March 3

Mahesh Bhupathi's professional dream child, Globosport India Pvt Ltd, today signed up Olympic silver medallist Lt Colonel Rajyavardhan Rathore. Commenting on the latest signing, Bhupathi said, "When I started Globosport, I was very clear about the genre of sportspeople we would sign up. Sportspersons who are winners based on sheer determination and guts and who rise to great heights based on hard work and self-belief. Rathore is all this and more. It gives me great pride to have Rathore sign with us."

In keeping with Globosport's avowed vision of creating world-class, valuable sports and entertainment properties with high consumer interest that deliver strong value to sponsors, the signing of the Olympic Silver medallist in the Men's Double Trap shooting event is yet another gigantic leap forward for Globosport.

At Globosport, Rathore will have a dedicated resource managing all his endorsements and a PR person who will ensure that Rathore's interviews and appearances are all well managed. Apart from this, Globosport through its sales team in Bangalore, Mumbai and Delhi will interact with Brands. Globosport will look at pegging Rathore to brands associated with national pride brands that have their communication strategy pivoted around integrity, solidarity etc

While the Olympic Silver Medal would undoubtedly be his USP, Rathore also has other notable achievements. Rathore, "friends call him Chily", received the Sword of Honour for being the best all round officer from Indian Military Academy in 1990. He then led innumerable commando operations to neutralise terrorist in Kashmir right up to the Kargil war in 1999.

He won the Arjuna award in 2003-2004 for shooting and the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna, the highest sporting honour of India, in 2004-2005.

Till now Rathore has won some of the most prestigious medals for the country: apart from the silver in the Olympics, he won the World Cup Shooting Gold Medal in 2004, a World Shooting Championship Bronze Medal (only the 2nd Indian to have done so, the first was Dr Karni Singh in 1962), He is the reigning Commonwealth Games Champion having also set a new Games Record of 192 targets out of possible 200 in 2002 at Manchester Games.

He was also the World Masters Champion in 2004.

In 2005 Commonwealth Shooting Championships in Melbourne, he was the member

of the winning team in the double trap event. He won the gold in the individual and team events in Men's double trap at the 2005. Asian Clay Shooting championships at Bangkok. The gold in the individual event was the third consecutive one for Rathore at the

annual events after the ones in 2003 and 2004, thus constituting a hat trick.

He is a recipient of the Padma Shri from the Government of India, and

the Ati Vishisht Seva Medal (AVSM), an award for distinguished service of

highest order presented by the President. He is the first officer (from the Indian

Army) below the rank of brigadier to be awarded the AVSM.

A little known fact about Rathore is that he voluntarily contributes a part

of his earnings to the Indian army, as his humble contribution to support the

upcoming sportspersons in the Army.

On signing, Rathore was all praise for the team at Globosport and went

on record to say,"Globosport, run by Mahesh Bhupathi who is one of India's best ever sportspersons himself, understands the life of a sportsperson. That for me is very important. I have interacted with the Globosport Team for sometime now, an enthusiastic and professional team, I found my comfort zone with them. I am very happy to be

associated with them."
