Attempting to add some diversity to its programming, etc Networks' Punjabi channel has launched Kaka Nikki Time, a kid's show with children in the age group of 8-15, anchoring the programme. The show, a culmination of the two-month long Kaka Nikki contest, invited entries from talented kids in Punjab who were capable enough to anchor a show on television.
According to channel executives, the show received an overwhelming response with entries pouring in from small towns and villages as well.
Says Rajiee M Shinde, vice-president (programming), etc Channel Punjabi, "Children are an important viewer segment but apart from cartoons there are hardly any quality shows made for kids in particular. Kaka Nikki Time aims to bridge that gap - a show of children, by children and for children."
