STAR is looking to reassign two of its shows on STAR Plus to improve their performances on the TVR charts, point out media reports. Incidentally, Ronnie Screwvala-promoted UTV produces both these serials. The new arrangement takes effect from August 18, according to informed sources.
On the block is childrens serial Shakalaka Boom Boom, which is being taken off from UTV and reassigned to television software producer Rose Movies for a trial 30-episode run. The Goldie Behl-Shrishti Arya promoted Rose Movies has produced only one serial so far - namely, Lipstick, for ZEE. The serial seems to have worked for ZEE, which has recently granted Lipstick a 100-episode extension. Currently, Shakalaka Boom Boom features at the No 52 position (with a TVR of 3.5) on the TAM chart for Top 100 programmes on C&S television (for the period July 6-12).
It is learnt, the STAR network has also decided to pull out Shagun from UTVs care and produce future episodes of the serial in-house. Currently, Shagun features at the No 42 position (with a TVR of 3.9) on the TAM chart for Top 100 programmes on C&S television (for the period July 6-12).
