Vinod Dua, former advisor to the Sahara group's news channel venture, is said to be in preliminary talks with STAR News. Talking to a media house recently, Dua reportedly said that the Rupert Murdoch-owned news channel is looking at an election coverage package and that is where Dua's contribution will come in handy.
Five Indian states, including Delhi, go to polls later this year, while the general elections are scheduled for the latter half of 2004. Incidentally, Dua seems to have also met NDTV's Prannoy Roy some time back, though nothing concrete has been worked out yet.
To put things in perspective, in a major reshuffle of responsibilities late last year, the Subrata Roy-promoted diversified Sahara India group brought in ace TV personality Vinod Dua as a consultant and coordinator of all proposed news operations, including the various state-specific news channels.
