STAR Plus will telecast the Asian Paints 9th Annual STAR Screen Awards on Saturday, January 18, at 8:00 pm. The Asian Paints STAR Screen Awards, adjudged the Best Television Event by the Indian Television Academy, is the only film award judged by an eminent jury from the film industry. In contrast, most other awards are based on viewers' choice.
This year, Sanjay Leela Bhansali's magnum opus Devdas, which has been nominated at the Oscars, has 22 nominations, followed by Ram Gopal Verma's Company and Rajkumar Santoshi's The Legend of Bhagat Singh. Vying for the Best Actor Award are Shah Rukh Khan (Devdas) and Ajay Devgan (Bhagat Singh).
The Awards function will be hosted by Rahul Khanna, the debonair actor from Hollywood Bollywood, Diya Mirza, an ex-beauty queen, and actress Preeti Jhangiani.
