B4U Movies acquires exclusive rights to screen Guru, Umrao Jaan and Nishabd

As acquisitions come, it does not get bigger than this. The year 2007 has begun with a bang at B4U as the network has bought the global exclusive screening rights to three blockbusters- THE GURU, UMRAO JAAN and the yet to be released NISHABD.

Over the years B4U Movies and B4U Music have spread its wings globally and has played an important role in taking Bollywood to countries far and wide.

This development, however, is another boost for the broadcaster after the declaration by an independent research for the second consecutive year that sister channel B4U MUSIC is the number one * channel in the UK.

The acquiring of rights for movies such as ‘GURU’ and ‘UMRAO JAAN’has even more significance as the leading pair in both movies – Abhishek and Aishwarya got engaged last week and are scheduled to tie the knot sometime next month.

What’s more, Abhishek’s superlative performance in Mani Ratnam’s Guru has won him accolades from his critics while Aishwarya on the other hand gives one her most memorable performances to date in J.P. Dutta’s ‘Umrao Jaan’.

‘Nishabd’draws on Vladmir Nakabov’s novel “ Lolita”about a 60-year-old man’s romance with an 18-year-old girl and stars Amitabh Bachchan and the Jiah Khan , who grew up in London.
