Mahindra Scorpio is Car of the Year 2003

Mahindra Scorpio has been adjudged Car of the Year 2003 at the CNBC Auto Car Auto Awards. Other winners include Indigo, Opel Vectra, Mercedes-Benz E 240 and Hyundai Accent CRDi. The CNBC Autocar Auto awards are presented by Goodyear India in association with HDFC Bank, Car Loans, and Exide.

A gathering comprising the Who's Who of the Indian automobile industry witnessed awards being presented in six categories as follows. Hyundai Motors India walked away with the Manufacturer of the Year award; the Best Value for Money Car was Tata Indigo; the Most Technologically Advanced Car of the Year was Mercedes-Benz E 240; Opel Vectra got the prize for the Best Design and Styling of the Year; Best Drivers' Car of the Yea went to Mercedes-Benz E 240; and the Most Improved Car of the Year was Hyundai Accent CRDi

Speaking on the occasion, Haresh Chawla, CEO, CNBC, said, "The Indian automobile industry is going through a very visible transition. And it is best manifested in the improved quality of passenger vehicles being introduced across all segments. The CNBC Auto Car Auto Awards is an effort to create a credible platform to recognize the efforts of the auto manufacturers and also provide an indicative parameter to the consumer."
