New Delhi, May 29
TV Today Network’s Delhi/NCR specific Hindi news channel, Dilli Aaj Tak, completed one year today.
Over the last one year, it has been the leader among all Delhi/NCR news channels. This has been possible mainly due to innovative programming and the credibility of Aaj Tak, the mother brand.
Dilli Aaj Tak’s team has put together programmes like Janpath, Chalo Bazaar, Dilli Talkies, etc, that educate and inform viewers on where to find what in Delhi. It has also become a platform for Delhiites to raise their problems and have them noticed. In fact, Dilli Aaj Tak’s special coverage of the MCD elections was well appreciated and among all local channels, Dilli Aaj Tak’s viewership was still the highest a day after the elections. All this has lead to a connect with the Delhi viewer, making Dilli Aaj Tak a brand that has earned a lot of credibility. Dilli Aaj Tak has very effectively captured the essence and ethos of the city that is Delhi.
A very visible marketing campaign has accompanied the channel’s first anniversary, including an outdoor campaign, print rollout and a special anniversary contest where viewers are being incentivised.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. G Krishnan, CEO, TV Today Network said, “Dilli Aaj Tak is a utility channel, driven by the informational needs of the average Delhiite. For advertisers, the channel presents tremendous opportunity as the audience delivered is informed, has purchasing power, and is open to local marketing communication.”
Mr. Aroon Purie, Chairman and Managing Director, TV Today Network commented, “The media industry in general and the television industry in particular has been booming; news space has seen an exponential increase in the number of players. I’m happy that over the last year, our foray into regional news has met with success, and is on its way to becoming a strong brand in the market.”
The launch of Dilli Aaj Tak a year ago marked TV Today Network’s foray into regional news, and therefore into profitable niche segments. So far, the network has launched four 24-hour news channels, namely Aaj Tak, Headlines Today, Tez and Dilli Aaj Tak.
