A MATTER OF TASTE WITH VIR SANGHVI’ uncovers Milk’s omnipresence and umbilical relationship with the Holy Cow

Media News

Mumbai, June 13

Religion, milk and the holy cow are India’s respected trinity. Where would we be without the holy cow? In this episode of ‘A Matter of Taste’, Vir uncovers milk’s ubiquitous presence and its influence in our daily lives ranging from health to tradition to our food. Vir traces some of India’s favourite milky delights — from milk that the north Indian loves to the milk sweets of the east.

Milk plays an integral role in Hinduism—deities are bathed in milk and most religious offering to the Gods have milk in some form or the other. Ghee made from milk fat is the only thing one can use to kindle the sacred fire. No Hindu ritual is complete without it and it seems that Hindu gods too seem to have an insatiable appetite for milk.

The episode Holy Cow airs on Discovery Travel & Living on this Sunday, June 17th at 8:30 pm.

Newspaper editor, columnist and television chat-show host and now TV CEO, Vir Sanghvi has yet another avatar – roving food reporter – in the new series airing on Discovery Travel & Living. In ‘A Matter of Taste with Vir Sanghvi’, he travels the country to discover what really makes the Indian mouth water. Exploring the country’s kitchens to discover the finest in Indian food and drink, Sanghvi debunks myths, champions theories and sprinkles it all with his trademark wit and sarcasm on this culinary journey.
