Celebrate Music on ‘World Music Day’ the Radio City way! This World Music Day, Radio City 91.1FM will go all out to truly live the spirit of the day and celebrate it with the listeners. Spreading the message that ‘Music connects’, Radio City has lined up a host of interactive initiatives across stations for the listeners who can celebrate music with Radio City with a dash of fun combined with showcasing the country’s musical talents, making their music accessible to the listeners.

Radio City will showcase the musical talents of performers and musicians across genres of music, be they renowned or upcoming artists. Radio City is also encouraging the talents of listeners who aspire to sing by providing them a platform to perform live on radio! With the fun involvement of the RJs on the show with the singers and winners, Radio City will celebrate music with their lively content and music.

With whooping number of more then 16,000 SMS’ for the contest hosted on Radio City in Mumbai, the station will celebrate World Music Day with interviews and LIVE studio performances from an impressive lineup of musical talents from Mumbai!

The Radio City Breakfast Show will feature Salim Suleiman and table maestro Taufiq Qureshi along with Niladri who is an expert sitar player. Listeners on ‘City Spice’ got to know a gifted upcoming musician Paroma Mukherjee who plays the guitar, harmonica and the flute.

On the afternoon show ‘Hum Tum’, RJ Neha will chat with Sanket, a percussionist who works with Kailash Kher. RJ Archana on ‘Radio City Joyride’ will talk to Vivek Rajgopalan, a percussionist who recently launched his successful album, ‘Dances with Shiva’.

While joining RJ Manish Vallicha on ‘City City Bang Bang’ are Dhruv Ghanekar, Ashutosh Pathak and Mahesh Mathai, our popular late-night show, Jaagte Raho will feature the talents of Rohan, an upcoming santoor player.

Radio City Lucknow

On the occasion of World Music Day, Radio City Lucknow is taking one step ahead in creating an atmosphere the city has never heard and imagined before – Radio City brings LIVE Acoustic Radio for its listeners in Lucknow! This innovative concept is the very first of its kind to be executed in the city.

Radio City Lucknow, Lucknow’s ‘apna radio station’ will provide a platform to aspiring singers to perform LIVE on air along with Lucknow’s very own celebrated singers, Hari Mohan, Kultar Singh, Anand Tripathi and Gagan Gurnani on ‘Radio City Joyride’. RJs Vera, Fahad and Meenu will take the hot seat in turns to provide complete entertainment in harmony with the singing stars and lucky winners. The final hour will be the grand finale with the professionals singing the ‘Whatte Fun’ anthem!

Radio City Bangalore

On World Music Day, Radio City Bangalore is kicking off a contest called “The Sound of Bangalore”. Having recorded and packaged sounds from various locations in Bangalore that reflected Bangalore’s dynamic reverberations and the station will ask listeners to identify these sounds.

Radio City is also honouring musicians and music venues in Bangalore by doing Out-Broadcasts from different locations in Bangalore – it is the Radio City way of paying tribute to classical music in Bangalore. Some of them include Lalitha Vidya Mandir, Basavanagudi Nataraj (veteran violinist) and Ratna Subramaniam.

The live musicians will be on air from 5 am all the way up to midnight. These musicians include TAS Mani on Mridangam, Karthik Mani on the Ghatam, Prakash Sontakke on Hawaiian guitar, KP Prakash on bass, Sukanya Ramgopal on Ghatatarang (a collection of 6 ghatams), the IDL Band (a fun and popular group, consisting of visually-impaired musicians and singers) and Dhunn (Indipop band based in Bangalore).
