HBO receives 86 nominations, frontrunner among all networks for EMMY® Awards 2007

It is raining Emmy® nominations for HBO this year. With 86 Emmy® nominations, HBO is the network with the highest number of nominations overall and for different categories. The prestigious Emmy Awards® will be announced on September 16, 2007.

HBO original movie, Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee, which will be premiered in HBO Asia soon, has received 17 nominations overall, including a nomination for the Outstanding Made for Television Movie Award, two for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Miniseries or a Movie Award (for Aidan Quinn and August Schellenberg), one for the Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Miniseries or a Movie Award (for Anna Paquin), one for Outstanding Directing for a Miniseries, Movie or a Dramatic Special Award (for Yves Simoneau), and one for Outstanding Writing for a Miniseries, Movie or a Dramatic Special (for Daniel Giat).

The international hit series Entourage, which premiered recently in India on July 15, 2007, has received seven nominations overall, including nominations for Outstanding Comedy Series, two for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series (for Kevin Dillon and Jeremy Piven), Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy Series (Martin Landau), and Outstanding Directing for a Comedy Series (Julian Farino).

Rome, an HBO Original Series that chronicles the epic times that saw the fall of a Republic and the creation of an empire has received seven nominations. After the tremendous success of Rome in India last year, HBO will be premiering a brand new season later this year. Deadwood, another successful HBO Original Series which describes the politics of an outlaw camp, has bagged six.

The HBO Documentary on Hurricane Katrina, When the Levees Broke: A Requiem in Four Acts, has received six nominations overall, including nominations for Exceptional Merit in Non-fiction Film-making and Outstanding Directing for Non-fiction Programming (for Spike Lee).

Another HBO Documentary, Tsunami, the Aftermath, that premiered in India in December, 2006 has received three nominations overall, including nominations for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Miniseries or a Movie (Toni Collette) and Outstanding Directing for a Miniseries, Movie or a Dramatic Special (Bharat Nalluri).

The Sopranos has bagged 15 nominations, including nominations for Outstanding Drama Series, Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series (James Gandolfini) & Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series (Edie Falco).

Other HBO nominees include Boffo! Tinseltown's Bombs and Blockbusters, Comic Relief 2006, Dane Cook Vicious Circle, Jerry Seinfeld: The Comedian Award, Thin, Lewis Black: Red, White & Screwed, Life Support, and Wanda Sykes: Sick and Tired.
