India’s emphatic victory in the second test of the ongoing series in England has helped the team overtake Pakistan and gain the 5th spot in the latest Maruti Suzuki Test team rankings issued by ESPN STAR Sports. Match winning performances from spearhead Zaheer Khan helped him reach the 5th spot while ever reliable Anil Kumble is placed third in the latest Test bowling ranking list. Surprisingly, none of the famed Indian batsmen have made it to the top ten in Test batting rankings. Sourav Ganguly, Dhoni and Yuvraj maintain their positions in the top ten of Maruti Suzuki ODI batting rankings.

India is currently ranked fifth in both versions of the game. Zaheer too seems to have a liking for the same as he is at the fifth spot in test bowling rankings. Bengal Tiger Sourav Ganguly is also ranked fifth – in the Maruti Suzuki ODI batting rankings.

In the Test Team rankings Australia continues to lead with 133 points. Sri Lanka (111 points), South Africa (102 points) and England (88) hold the next three positions. India after its glorious win is placed fifth with 82 points. Pakistan (75 points), New Zealand (61 points), West Indies (15 points) and Bangladesh (0 points) complete the top 10 in Test Team Rankings.

Pakistan batsman, Mohammad Yousuf (196 points) maintains his top slot in World Test batting rankings followed by Aussie batsman Michael Hussey (189 points). The Sri Lankan left-hander, Kumara Sangakkara (182 points) and Aussie captain Ricky Ponting (178 points) are at the third and fourth positions of the ranking list. The fifth, sixth and the seventh positions are held by the Sri Lankan captain Mahela Jayawardene (174 points), the hard hitter from England, Kevin Pietersen (187 points) and the Caribbean batsman, Shivnarine Chanderpaul (169 points). Aussie youngster, Michael Clarke (166 points) is at the eighth position and is followed by the South African Batsman, Ashwell Prince (161 points) and England batsman, Paul Collingwood (156 points) at the bottom rung of the list at the ninth and tenth position.

In the test bowling rankings, Muttiah Muralitharan maintains his hold on the top spot (198 points) over 2nd placed South Africa pace man Makhaya Ntini (188 points). Anil Kumble with highest number of test wickets for India follows at the third place with 182 points. England’s left arm spinner, Monty Panesar (180 points) is at the fourth position, followed by our spearhead bowler Zaheer Khan (173 points) at the fifth spot. Aussie bowler, Stuart Clark (166 points) and Pakistani fast bowler, Mohammad Asif (164 points) continues their hold over the sixth and seventh position of the Test rankings, followed by English bowler, Mathew Hoggard (160 points) at the eighth position. Shaun Pollock (158 points) and Stephen Harmison (155 points) close the list at the ninth and tenth position respectively. Sreesanth and RP Singh are currently ranked 22nd and 37th in Test bowling rankings.

Australia’s dominating batsman, Mathew Hayden, continues to hold the top spot of the ODI batting with 198 points. Eight points behind him is the South African captain, Jacques Kallis with 190 points. Aussie captain, Ricky Ponting (187 points) is placed third in the list and is followed by Lankan captain, Mahela Jayawardene with 185 points. The Bengal Tiger, Sourav Ganguly has climbed to the fifth position with 181 points. At the sixth, seventh and eighth positions are Shivnarine Chanderpaul (178 points), Aussie batsman Michael Clarke (175 points) and Paul Collingwood from England with 171 points. M S Dhoni (169 points) and Yuvraj Singh (166 points) are at the ninth and tenth position of the top 10 of ODI batting.

The World ODI bowling ratings is led by the spin wizard of Sri Lanka, Muttiah Muralitharan (198 points) closely followed by the Kiwi spearhead Shane Bond (191 points). Australian left hand bowler, Nathan Bracken (188 points) and the Aussie fast bowler, Shaun Tait (185 points) follow at the third and fourth position respectively. New Zealand spinner Daniel Vettori (181 points) and the South African bowler, Andrew Hall (177 points) is at the fifth and sixth position, followed by Caribbean batsman, Darren Powell with 175 points at the seventh position. Lasitha Malinga (174 points), the tear away fast bowler from Lanka is at the eighth position. At the ninth position, is our Indian spearhead, Zaheer Khan (172 points). Aussie Brad Hogg closes the top 10 list with 170 points.

Australia continues their domination in the ODI team ratings (103 points) leading Sri Lanka (95 points) by eight points, followed by South Africa (81 points) and New Zealand (74 points). India (68 points) at number five is followed by England (62 points) at the sixth position. Pakistan at the seventh position with 43 points leads West Indies at the eighth position with 36 points. Bangladesh (25 points) and Kenya (11 points) are at the ninth and tenth position of the ODI team rankings.
